Will Ultimate Victory Ever Come?

     Part 1 of 2

We live on Morning View Dr. Well named. At sunrise, the early morning angle allows sunshine underneath the clouds. Some mornings are just spectacular. Sunsets can do the same.

We inhabitants of earth are not so glorious. Not that some women - and men - don't work hard to look radiant, or handsome.

The behavior of some of us is cloudy, stormy, cold, dark or dreary. It was so in Bible times as well.

Prophet Habakkuk about 600 B.C. struggled to understand why God was not doing his job, so to speak. Babylonian expansion raked Judah three times. The third attack - the temple burned, and Jerusalem was destroyed.

Most of God's people were backslidden. God used the deplorable of mankind to enslave his own. See the book of Daniel. God also had an appointed time, when surviving Jews would rebuild and Nebuchadnezzar would be no more.

Sovereign God does everything at his appointed time, so let's not try to scuttle his schedule. We live by faith, not by understanding.

Habakkuk knew most of the people had gone the ways of the world. God would allow, but comes a day of reckoning at the appointed time. The prophet wanted to help the godly remnant comprehend God's ways. He had honest inquiry, unshakeable faith, and concern for revival.

Tomorrow: Revelation awaits appointed time
