If you missed yesterday's introduction, please scroll back.
Did you ever see an enormous red dragon? Me neither. But that spirit is on earth along with countless other demons...all furious with God. They know their destiny is hell. They know God loves humans made "in his image." They will do anything to counter that love...prevent us from experiencing eternal life...and watch our souls join them in the fiery torment made for them.
They are capable of miracles.
Couldn't God dispatch them and let us live our lives? Sure. But He has a plan, and whatever it is, He gives us life or death choices.
God shames demons - who knew him as he is - and he receives men who believe on faith and live to please him. God gives faith to those who desire it. We're not capable of achieving true faith on our own.
Paul wrote to the Ephesians, "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in heavenly realms" (Eph. 6:12).
Unbelievers don't struggle. They are where the devil wants them. He may use them unknowingly, be it one sin or millions of deaths attributed to Stalin and Hitler.
Demons have interfered from the beginning. Moses wrote, "They sacrificed to demons, which are gods they had not known...gods that recently appeared...gods your fathers did not fear" (Deut. 32:17).
"They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons" (Psalm 106:37). Those who worshipped idols actually were dealing with demons.
