Ashes to Artificial Reefs

Out with coffins and headstones. Fish lovers are having their ashes molded into reef balls with holes, to be dropped in the Gulf as habitat for marine life. How thoughtful.

We would rather be molded with polyester resin and various minerals into a bowling ball. That way, we could play a role - or rolls - for a happy bowler long after we're gone. And help send more pins for a spin than we ever achieved in life.

Oh, and you could visit me for free at the alley, instead of chartering a boat.

 Get Well Senator
Socialist Bernie Sanders, 78, underwent a heart cath on Tuesday, receiving two stents in an artery. This procedure is familiar within our family. He will be off the campaign trail for awhile. Speedy recovery, sir, but it will be heart warming for us if you begin enjoying retirement.

Messy Anniversary, Communist China
While the Chinese government "celebrates" its 70th anniversary, freedom lovers in Hong Kong continue to demonstrate vigorously. This is like your whole state raising cane during the 200th anniversary of our Declaration of Independence. Fireworks of a different order.

An officer's live bullet struck, but did not kill, a protester the other day. So things may become worse for Hong Kongians (?). They resemble the patriots of Old New England. Maybe there are millions on the mainland who aren't celebrating either.

No Views on Weekends?
We are thinking of cutting back to five blogs a week. Maybe as soon as this week.

No particular reason, except for the exceptional time we spend searching topics, sorting out the meat, writing the meat, and finally grinding the meat to suit ourselves. It's called editing.

Speaking of anniversaries, Sept. 30 was the 5th anniversary of Views By the Sea.
No fireworks.
