While We Were Sleeping

Freedom

Were you there in the dark early Thursday morning to see the 757 touch down at Joint Base Andrews? Did you see the huge American flag raised between two fire trucks?

Did you know that our president walked up the steps to the jet's doorway, between 2 and 3 a.m., to welcome home three Korean-Americans? That his wife also climbed the steps, greeting the released detainees?

That VP Mike Pence and his wife also went up the staircase at that hour? And that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao did likewise...between 2 and 3 a.m.?

Pompeo had again visited North Korea earlier this week, coming back with three very happy men.

The three men, who had been employed in NK, two of them teachers in a private school, walked down the stairs to the cheers of U.S. service members on the tarmac. They thanked God and those who prayed for them.

This is the same North Korea that sent us an American college student, a tourist, unresponsive and near death, last June.

We don't know how the June 12 summit meeting in Singapore will go, after two-plus decades of diplomatic futility. But we're sending a new sheriff this time.
