 John's Purpose for Us

In his Gospel, a fisherman, John, wrote "that you may believe and have life in His name." Whose name? He who educated John and other uneducated disciples some 50 years earlier...Jesus, the Christ.

It is likely John was writing to believers, that they would resist the world and continue in their belief and fellowship with the Father and the Son. Two millenniums later, we believers also benefit from John's information, and others, and face the same challenges as those in the church's first century.

More highlights from John chapter 1:

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born - not of blood (parents), nor of the will of man, but - of God.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son...He has declared Him.
