Call to Humility 

A book review

     A British theology teacher Michael Reeves wrote a book, Authentic Ministry; Serving From the Heart.

     We should delight in God for God's sake, because He is God and is worthy of our worship. Jesus did not die on the cross for our self-improvement. 

     I've been praying for healing for someone close to me. A sermon last Sunday awoke me to the truth that giving glory to God, the healer, is priority 1. 

     Through the cross, we can grow our identity in Christ, not in our performance. Reeves recommends we learn to pray boldly, breathing in God's Word, then breathing it out with prayer requests and thanksgiving. 

     We should grow in humility, aware that some forms of success can puff us up, destructive to our character. 

    Suffering is designed for our growth in Christ, painful in the short run, but blessed as we grow with God's corrections.
