 Christians tend to forget that...

WORLD magazine interviewed Allie Beth Stuckey, host of Blaza TV podcast Relatable. One question:

"Some Christians say that since our kingdom is not of this world, we need not concern ourselves with politics."

Stuckey: "Politics affects policy, policy affects people, and people matter. People matter to God; therefore, they matter to us. Christians tend to forget that politics is one way to love our neighbor, because the policies that we vote for have a real effect on people.

"You don't have to care about every issue. You don't have the capacity to do that.

"But the issues that affect your community, the issues that will affect your children and your children's children - as U.S. citizens we have the right and responsibly to vote, to influence elections, and to raise a respectful ruckus for the things that matter.

"We (Christians) are exiles in this world. Our citizenship is in heaven. And yet, here we are. So, in the welfare of the community around us is our welfare too."

Views: If we are registered to vote, we still have Tuesday.

Putting a lid on it

We could write about the extremely serious election, or the damage done to North Carolinians (including 230 dead and others missing), or the baseball World Series.

You can find all that elsewhere. Today - if you don't know - Tupperware succumbs to slumping sales. Growing up, we heard our mother talk about Tupperware quite often.

Some 78 years ago Earl Tupper invented the first products. His company, known for plastic food containers, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sept. 17 after years of declining sales and mounting debt.

The amount of debt is $818 million according to court documents. Tupperware's lenders filed a motion in court to convert the Chapter 11 restructuring into a Chapter 7 liquidation.

It is estimated that 8,500 patents are held by Tupperware Brands for kitchen and home products.

More than 100 Tupperware pieces make up a collection for the future Smithsonian American Women's History Museum, reflecting the cultural influence of Tupperware parties in the 20th century.

Judgment of Believers

    4 of 6

Lack of love.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. You will receive an inheritance. - Colossians 3:23

Believers will have to give an account of their faithfulness or unfaithfulness to God.

Master to his servant: Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master's happiness. - Matthew 25:21

Now it's required that those who have been given a trust prove faithful. I do not judge even myself. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore, judge nothing before the appointed time. Wait until the Lord comes. He will bring it to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. Each will receive his praise from God. - Corinthians 4:2-5

The believer's bad deeds, when repented of, are forgiven with respect to eternal punishment. They are still taken into account during judgment for repayment. The results of the judgment will be varied. There will be either gain or loss of joy.

Soloman: For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. - Ecclesiastes 12:14

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people. - Hebrews 6:10

And now dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. - 1 John 2:28

Parable of the talents - Matthew 25:14-30

Hometown Arrivals

If our schedule is a bit uneven lately,

we have been dealing with the hurricane,

an upcoming funeral, and the usual duties.

Big cities get most of the news, but midsize towns wrestle with immigrant surges. Imagine our future if Democrats sweep this election.

In Springfield, Ohio, residents quietly accepted the newcomers, until housing prices shot up 27 percent. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 Haitian immigrants have settled there.

From January 2021 to January 2024, federal officials encountered 6.3 migrants at the southern border. More than 2.4 million were allowed to stay, with temporary legal status. This comes with costs and benefits.

Springfield pastor Carl Ruby claims the city is benefiting from the influx, but "we are being used as an example of a city that's overrun."

Portland, Maine, now with an aging workforce, needs newcomers. As asylum-seekers move in, taxpayers are footing the bill. Their government has spent $35 million to house new arrivals. Those who don't speak English have less opportunity.

Whatever. The election may or may not move all this is a new direction. Stay tuned.

Well...Halleluiah!

49% of Democrats and 67% of Republicans agree on something.

They are in favor of expanding nuclear energy. It seems windmills and solar panels aren't going to meet all our energy needs after all.

The resurgence of interest in nuclear power includes Congress and the White House. Safety worries have stymied the growth of nuclear power in the U.S., especially after the partial meltdown in Pennsylvania in 1979 and the Chernobyl meltdown in 1986.

But the global use of nuclear energy has increased in the past four decades. More than 440 reactors operate around the world powering cities, suburbs and submarines. The U.S. has 94 reactors, mostly built in the 1970s and '80s. They provide 18 percent of America's electricity. One design approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission seems likely. In the past, different designs for different reactors has proved way too expensive and time consuming.

China plans to add 150 nuclear reactors to its existing 55 over the coming decade.

It's nighttime. They are looking for him in the garden...

in the woods, carrying lanterns and torches...and weapons.

John chapter 18

vv. 10-11  Peter with his own sword struck the high priest's servant. Jesus said: Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which my Father has given Me?

v. 20  Later, questioned by the high priest himself, Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where the Jews always meet, and in secret I have said nothing.

v. 36  Brought before Pilate, the authority with power over life and death, Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world.

v. 37  Pilate said to him, "Are you a king then?" Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.

The Money Game

College sports has undergone a massive upheaval, brought on by the 2021 court case that ruled the NCAA could not prevent student athletes from profiting from their name, image, and likeness (NIL).

Overnight, thousands of young people had the opportunity to make money without turning pro.

There is a six-part documentary that examines how student athletes at Louisiana State U. are navigating sports reshaped by NIL deals. "The Money Game" begins with a breakdown of the economics behind college athletics. NIL threw the old system into chaos.

LSU has an NIL office to help students get paid. Some athletes aren't just students. Now they're running their own businesses. While football generates the lion's share of profits for the university, it's the Lady Tigers that are running away with the money.

Gymnast Olivia Dunne has 15 million followers on social media and can make up to $125,000 for a single post.

NIL isn't equitable as expected. Some star athletes struggle to get attention, while some obscure athletes build profitable businesses.

On the dark side, some students face struggles and mourn the loss of normal life. NIL, they say, is one more thing for kids to worry about, already under too much pressure to perform.

So what? So, Mr. and Mrs. Donut on Saturday participate in an event called "Trunk and Treat" for kids living in the neighborhood of our church. My Buckeyes, on TV at the same time, will have to face Nebraska without our help.

Making History...Our Choices

A thousand things, all at once, in every life.

"World War I. Austria had to respond. Germany had to honor its alliance. Czarist Russia had to support its Serbian compatriots. France had to get back at Germany for the Franco-Prussian War.

World magazine

"Britain drew a red line at the Belgian border that Germans crossed, dragging all of Europe into a hot mess. The rest is history. An author believes World War I wasn't inevitable; it was a wrong turn down a side street that set the tone for the 20th century.

"Adolph Hitler could have been fatally shot on several occasions. Why was he spared to wreak such havoc? Why did a bullet aimed at Donald Trump miss by millimeters?

"We can't fathom why one life is spared while another is cut short. God writes large and complex, but his writing in an individual life is equally intricate.

"Countless human choices feed into the stream of time even as God shapes the stream. What is He doing? Never just one thing, as John Piper has said, but ten thousand things, all at once, in every life.

"As a mighty king once declared, 'None can stay his hand or say to him, 'What have you done?' (Daniel 4:35). How many times has God spared you from a fatal highway crash, or from a nasty virus? How has He used your own wrong turns?

"All of us will be history someday, but 'underneath are the everlasting arms.'"

              Jimmy

November 1962. Angry mood. I was familiar with the hilly Ohio road. 45 mph. Unable to see over the hill, I passed a car anyway. Still in the left lane near the top, another car suddenly appeared. If both of us were going 45 mph, we were closing at 90 mph. I tramped the brake and he "disappeared." I was then on the left bank facing backward, when the other driver came back, suggesting I "sit it out for awhile," and went on his way. I think God spared me...or maybe it was the other driver He most wanted to save.

Parent on Trial

On TV we watched a man in court rocking himself forward and back, forward and back.

A terrible experience. Likely the worst day of his life. His mistake? He gave his 14-year-old son a gun for Christmas.

Georgia criminally charged the father with second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and cruelty to children less than 36 hours after his son killed four people at a high school with his assault style rifle.

This is similar to a case in Michigan, where in 2021 parents were charged with involuntary manslaughter - a school shooting by their son.

A college lecturer said cases charging others with negligence for providing or allowing firearms are likely to continue. It may be difficult to prove a parent knew a child was likely to pose a danger to others, he added.

"The prosecutor must have a lot of evidence," he said. "It's difficult to prove what's in the mind of a person."

The shooter's mother, divorced from the father, reportedly warned the school 30 minutes before the shots. If the father was equally aware, it may factor into the prosecutor's case.

Feeling the Squeeze

If it isn't hurricanes, it's pythons.

A total of $25,000 in cash prizes were awarded at the annual Florida Python Challenge in August. Since 2000, 21,000 Burmese pythons have been removed, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Up to 300,000 pythons still live in the Everglades. Who's counting? They are experts at hiding.

Meanwhile, 99 percent of raccoons in Everglades National Park are gone. Researchers also blame pythons for the near erasure of opossums and bobcats from the park.

We would like to know what 300,000 snakes are living on, since they have pretty much eaten all the meals that were available. Alligators? A female python can lay up to 100 eggs at one time. 150,00 x 100?

Florida says the reptiles arrived through both accidental and intentional release. They have no natural predators.

Ridiculous...people bringing pythons to America for any reason.

We're glad our late uncle Bill Dilley, the park's first superintendent, didn't see this unforgiveable assault on his beloved nature.

Reporting At Conventions

WORLD magazine's Carolina Lumetta has covered numerous rallies this year, including both party conventions. What did she learn?

Her surprise: "How similar the RNC a DNC were. Every speech was carefully scripted, including party business. Republicans who disagreed with abortion language had no opportunity to debate it. Democrats who wanted to address plans for Palestine had no method to object."

She said, "The conventions are more like a four-day hype party for the most dedicated members of both parties. I was also struck at both conventions about similar core messages: Both sides paint the other as an existential threat to a way of life."

How do politicians treat the media?

"Delegates who do not normally talk to the media get nervous when I walk up and ask for a quick interview. At both conventions, as at every protest, rally and story I cover, I let them know that I'm there to listen, not to opine."

"Sometimes, reluctantly, those sources agree to talk, and when the story is complete, they appreciate that we represented them fairly without the emotion that typically accompanies these political events."

So, why hold conventions?

And Jesus Said...

   John, chapter 17

With his crucifixion hours away, at supper with his disciples, Jesus prayed to the Father:

v. 2  You have given him (Jesus himself) authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as you have given Him.

v. 3  And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

v. 13  But now I come to You, and these things I speak, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.

v. 14  I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world...

v. 15  I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one.

v. 18  As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

v. 20  I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.

v. 21  that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

v. 24  Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold my glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

v. 26  And I have declared to them your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them and I in them.

Kamala's Radical Pastor

  From a friend in Israel

One of the first people Kamala Harris called when she replaced Joe Biden as the nominee was her longtime pastor, Amos Brown, of San Francisco's Third Baptist Church. The two have known each other for nearly 25 years.

Harris recently described Brown as "an inspiration to me always." Brown's history is one of radicalism, anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism. His remarks have even alienated Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein.

He told an interviewer "America is a racist country." A week after the 9/11 attacks, he hinted America's guilt, not the attackers. He participated in a UN World Conference which was called specifically to condemn Israel.

The Harris-Brown relationship resembles Barack Obama and his pastor, Jeremiah Wright, who preached anti-American sermons. The Obamas, under scrutiny during his campaign, eventually left his church after two decades.

Not so with Harris and Brown. She received him at the White House at least twice. Addressing the National Baptist Convention in 2022, Harris referred to Brown, "...your wisdom has really guided me and grounded me..."

Please read this again.

Do Democrats really respect their nation?

"Government in its best state is but a necessary evil. In its worst state an intolerable one."  - Thomas Paine

Senior Citizens in Decline

That is, citizens from the Great Depression and World War II era, and to some extent we their children. We can't fault our successors for your various outlooks on life. Circumstances change. Inventions invade our world. Travel from then to now is way different. Etc.

We seniors are not perfect.  However, we did not take:

melody out of music

price out of appearance

romance out of love

commitment out of marriage

responsibility out of parenthood

togetherness out of family

learning out of education

service out of patriotism

religion out of school

civility out of behavior

refinement out of language

dedication out of employment

prudence out of spending

ambition out of achievement

Now, excuse me. Need to get my sleep.

Judgment of Believers

        Part 3 of 6

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him - 1 John 2:28

The believer's judgment will not involve condemnation by God.

The word "appear" means to be revealed openly. God will examine and openly reveal, in its true reality.

For whatever is hidden is to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. - Mark 4:22

With the measure you use, it will be measured to you. - Mark 4:24

This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. - Romans 2:16

There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jews, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism. - Romans 2:9-11

But I tell you that men will have to give an account on the day of judgment for every careless they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. - Matthew 12:36-37

Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever he does, whether he is slave or free. - Ephesians 6:7-8

Therefore, judge nothing before the appointed time; the Lord will bring to light what is hidden in darkness, and will expose the motives of men's hearts. Each will receive his praise from God. - 1 Corinthians 4:5

Who Said This?

"Today's Democrat Party is controlled by an elitist cabal of warmongers obsessed with power, who are undermining our God-given rights and are terrified that people like us will make 'the wrong choice' this election."

Was it Newt Gingrich? George Bush? Donald Trump?

Well, it was Tulsi Gabbard, former Democratic congresswoman, and a candidate for Democratic presidential nomination. She was also a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve. We toss that in there.

Today, Gabbard is an independent, "making it my mission to get other common sense, independent minded Americans to join me in leaving the Democrat Party behind."

She says the Dems "will destroy anyone and everything to keep their grip on power. Even if it means shredding our Constitution and ripping our country apart."

If you appreciate this, we might continue with her remarks tomorrow. We all need to get a grip. It might be our last chance to protect our freedoms.

This is a fork in the road like no other.

Honest comparison of the 4 Trump years and the Biden-Harris years could not be more clear. This is evidence that voters seldom enjoy. Which candidate has the superior record? There is no contest, but we find ourselves in a contest none the less.

                Jimmy

PS. If you want your country to dissolve into the one-world government, then proven records don't matter.

Get the Book

Before you vote, go to Walmart and buy a book about the achievements of Kamala Harris.

It won't take you long to read it. Every page is blank.

Get the Truth

There is a politician who graduated from Yale, Magna Cum Laude. (I think that means he is smart. My sister got the same recognition, although far from Yale.) He had time to captain Yale's baseball team and batted .336 in his senior year. That would be baseball's version of Magna Cum Laude.

He went on to Harvard Law School, earning Juris Doctor Cum Laude. He followed that with a Reserve Naval officers commission, with various assignments, and reached the rank of lieutenant. He worked with detainees at Guantanamo Bay, then Naval Special Warfare Command Group, assigned to SEAL Team One. Off to Iran as a legal adviser.

Our man won the Bronze Star Medal, Navy & Marine Corp Commendation Medal, and other metals.

Then he returned home as an assistant U.S. attorney, here in Florida, his home state.

You probably know we're writing about Ron Desantis, our excellent governor cum laude, who tried but could not rally the support (President) Donald Trump maintains. Okay. Not every voter knows what we just provided you. And we're not claiming he would be a better president.

We just demonstrated the nation can choose a Candidate Cum Laude to help us through difficult times, here and abroad. Ms. Harris is qualified only to be the chuckles front "woman" while liberals who bat .336 politically determine your future and ours.

We're Back

We were fortunate that the hurricane drifted a little south. Arriving home last night, four adults and one dog, we already knew from neighbors that one of two trees in the front yard broke off at the base. Otherwise, there is still a bit more cleanup and returning items to their proper place. All gas stations in our vicinity are waiting for deliveries.

Again, we feel for others in Florida who lost just about everything. When we bugged out, we didn't know if our homes would be livable.

So, we'll close with a few words from our Lord.

John chapter 16

v. 27  For the Father loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came from God.

v. 33  These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.

We may or may not have something to interest you this week, depending on our ability to blog with our new tablet. Our electricity may be out for awhile. If nothing else, try to connect with Views on Monday or later. Thank you.

One Big X

As our fellow HOA homeowners gather food, drink, clothing and you name it - for Floridians who lost everything two weeks ago - we are gathering food, water, flashlights and you name it again. For ourselves.

We know of no previous storms that crossed paths within two weeks. In September the worst of our 2024 storms raked our west coast from Naples to the panhandle. South to North.

This one is speeding West to East. Our Tampa is the center of possibilities. This would be Tampa's first hurricane since 1840. There is time for its path to move north or south. We're burdened with the hope of relief, knowing that our relief will be some else's grief.

We write this to say, if Views by the Sea doesn't appear with a new blog on Wednesday or Thursday, you will know why.

And Jesus said...

Gospel of John, chapter 15, conclusion

v. 18  If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.

v. 20  A servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you.

v. 22  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.

v. 23  He who hates Me hates My Father also.

v. 24  If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.

v. 25  They hated Me without a cause.

No Exceptions

Judgment of believers. Part 2 of 6

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him (or her) for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. - 2 Corinthians 5:10

All Christians subject to judgment, no exceptions.

Each of us will give an account of himself to God. - Romans 14:12

...his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames. - 1 Corinthians 3:13-15

...the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son as they honor the Father. - John 5:22

Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. - 2 John 8

Next week: to be revealed openly

Judgment for Believers

Throughout our lifelong church attendance, we don't recall any pastor telling us that we believers will be judged. We've read those verses, but it never "sunk in" until we turned 85.

People think judgment is for unbelievers only; no forgiveness.

There is a difference ... unbelievers and those who are living with hope of salvation. We may live happily ever after. But picture this: our Lord and Savior opening a book with all our records. Opps!

He casts our sins into the deepest sea...yet there will be a time of judgment. How much did we love him? What did we do for others? What deceptive words of Satan did we fall for? What commands did we ignore?

The Bible says the Lord will reward us for proper attitudes, works, etc. As for sinful thoughts and deeds, "fire" will burn them up. I hope He won't let anyone else see what He saw in me.

The record of our invisible "heart" in this life will determine the role we are given during the millennium.

Our Bible challenges us to fear the Lord, and to love the Lord.

Views by the Sea will search these lessons. The "teachers" are Christ himself, King Solomon, Paul the missionary, disciples Peter, John and Matthew, Paul's helper Mark, and the unknown author of Hebrews.

Part 2 - next. The final four parts may depend on other subjects, given ongoing news and events of our times.

Tomorrow: No exceptions

We'll Do as They Say

   Part 3 Conclusion

The 2030 agenda would dictate who we associate with, what we can and cannot eat, and what we must believe, said Argentina President Javiar Milei in his speech at the United Nations.

Collectivism. The woke agenda. Solutions not credible. Do the names Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama mean anything to us? And now Joe Biden and their next choice to "play president" while the machine does its thing. 2030 has already failed. The left's repression and restrictions carry on, regardless of their standard bearer.

Milei referred to the recent history of his nation: "Poverty. Anarchy. Brutalization." Argentina now embraces freedom: "We are all born free, equal under the law, with inalienable rights - provided by our Creator." He listed "defense of life and property, freedom of commerce, and limited government."

Does this sound like the original, free America?

Milei upheld "freedom from tyranny and oppression," and freedom of matters such as political, economic and religion. He signed a descent on the 2030 agenda, saying it would cripple the world. He called for a new agenda.

He quoted Thomas Paine, who famously said, "Those who reap the blessings of freedom...must undergo the fatigues of supporting it." He also quoted from the U.S. Declaration of Independance. If only our current president had delivered this message to the U.N.

Will the U.N. heed Milei's proposal to return to its founding purposes? Our ambassador is Linda Thomas-Greenfield. Surely, she will.......? 😏

You Name It

The United Nations allows it. Part 2

The U.N. tolerates bloody dictatorships such as Cuba and Venezuela, which can serve on the human rights council like anyone else. Countries that punish women who show their skin may serve on committees that seek to eliminate discrimination of women.

The U.N. regularly votes against Israel, a liberal democracy. (Would Satan have a hand in this?)

The 2030 agenda has repressed the natural economic process, preventing third world nations from using their own resources. They require nations to commit resources they don't have...develop programs they don't need...and make them perpetual debtors to the agenda of global elites. (So said Javiar Milei, president of Argentina.)

Zero emission policies harm poor countries. Permanent members of the Security Council veto decisions based not on merit but on whose interests are involved.

What's this?

Midday Tuesday ... U.N. member Iran is shelling the entirety of U.N. member Israel. Do they know that thousands of Israelites are not Jewish? What if a stray Muslim-Iran missile struck the Muslim temple on the historic temple mount in Jerusalem?

Meanwhile, U.N. member Russia continues its assault on U.N. member Ukraine, with over 300,000 deaths so far. The U.N. is powerless to solve global conflict, Milei said.

We'll get back to his speech tomorrow.
