Dressing Like Jesus

A uniform gives authority. Formal wear brings confidence. Comfortable clothes help us relax. Peter learned something about spiritual clothing from watching Jesus serve others.

Peter then tells us to tie around ourselves the apron of humility. Just as Jesus wrapped a towel around his waist to serve, we're called to clothe ourselves with a servant's heart.

Humility isn't thinking we're worthless, or false modesty. It's having an accurate view of ourselves and others. When we put on humility like a garment, we acknowledge that every person has value and that no task is beneath us...if it serves others and honors God.

When we stop worrying about our image or status, we're free to focus on what really matters - loving and serving others.

Spiritual clothing never goes out of style, never wears out. When we choose to put on humility, we're dressing like Jesus.

1 Peter 5:5
