The Great Reset

Like a hurricane, the Great Reset is leaving destruction in its wake. Even if their goals aren't totally met, there is urgent reason to oppose it.

We pass on to you a few comments by Michael Rectenwald, Ph.D., delivered in November at Hillsdale College.

What is it? Since 1971 there has been a move toward "stakeholder capitalism," public-private partnership, worldwide. The term Great Reset emerged about 10 years ago.

It is the Chinese system, in reverse. The West began with capitalism, and is now implementing a Chinese-style political system, authoritarian measures to control populations.

Acute crises help boost the power of the state. Draconian lockdown measures serve the purpose, including destruction of small businesses, competitors of monopolists. Have we been watching the news? Millions of small businesses closed, with 60 percent now permanent.

Travel restrictions, unrestrained printing of money, broken supply chains, job losses due to vaccine mandates and more ... all serve the stakeholders (not the shareholders).

"Fairness" means lowering the economic status of people in nations like the U.S. Woke ideology makes people - but not the elite - feel guilty about their wealth. States and favored corporations combine in public-private partnerships to control governance, largely unaccountable.

Corporations are deputized as major additions to governments. The state then has enormous corporate assets, with no obligation to voters. Since these corporations are multinational, the state essentially becomes globalist, without the need to formalize "one-world government."

Tomorrow: A note of hope
