The Son of David...

...is David's Lord.  Part 5 of 5.

Matthew was a Jewish tax collector in Israel, for Rome. Not likely to have friends. Jesus chose him to be his disciple. In the A.D. 60s, he wrote - or God wrote through him - the book of Matthew.

Chapter 1:1 - "A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham." He named everyone in the order of birth over 42 generations, concluding with baby Jesus. In verse 17 Matthew summarized: "Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile...and fourteen from the exile to the Christ."

Matthew's 28 chapters concluded with "The Great Commission," Jesus' direction for missionaries. Matthew's many words of Jesus, 30-plus years later, had to be God's doing, or Matthew had the greatest recall in all history. 😏

In the book of Samuel, God said "Tell my servant David 'I took you from the pasture...to be ruler of my people Israel. Now I will make your name great...not promised on David's merit, righteousness and good deeds, but out of the Lord's mercy and grace." (as it is today)

David said, "Let us fall into the hands of the Lord for his mercy is great." Peter said in Acts 1:16, "The Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David..." And in Acts 2:29-30, "Brothers...David died and was buried, and his tomb is here to this day. He knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his (David's) descendants (Christ) on his throne."

"Therefore, God set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts'" - Hebrews 4:7.

David will arrive with his Lord for the Millennium
